The Grand Day Out
Some people may know that on 28th of March 2014 the lives of Alison, Robert and Joel Howells were shattered
by the sudden and unexpected loss of a beautiful and talented daughter and
sister at the young age of 22 years.
Ceri’s life was cut short by SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) a silent killer that is responsible for the
deaths of at least twelve young people every
week in the UK alone.
CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) is pioneering research into SADS and provides a specialist lead screening programme which uses non-invasive tests to screen young people (aged 14-35 years) for potential signs of the condition. These screening sessions have been proven to reduce the risk of death from the condition by almost 89%. |
On the 28th of March 2015, Alison, Robert and Joel, supported by an army of helpers organised a fundraising event in memory of their daughter and sister Ceri Palmer-Howells to raise money to support the work of the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in The Young).
The event was greatly supported by the community and local businesses and we were able to raise over £2,400.00 towards the life saving work of CRY. This event marks the beginning of what we hope will be a fruitful relationship between the Nantwich Freerunners and this important charity and we hope to increase awareness of this condition and the important work that CRY does in helping to save young lives.
